With 1 in every 7 women being diagnosed with breast cancer in their lifetime, it is almost guaranteed that most of us will be affected by this terrible disease in some way, be it first hand or via a friend or loved one.

Breast cancer is something that is very close to our hearts here at Slippery Coco, and something that we will always be actively involved in supporting. As a company, we strive to create a supportive community environment and provide a safe place for women to share their experiences around their Breast Cancer journey. Our mission with this is to educate, inspire and empower our followers through raising awareness, helping and supporting where possible and giving people tools to help prevent and detect this all so common disease.

Lets talk some stats…

In 2021 it is projected that 20,030 people will be diagnosed with Breast Cancer. This is an average of 55 people per day!
Over the course of your lifetime 1 in 7 women and 1 in 670 men are at risk of diagnosis.

Now, while these statistics are mind blowing and very scary, due to the blessing of modern medicine, modern diagnostic tools and awareness campaigns, survival rates have now reached above 91%. Incredible!

Early detection and diagnosis are vital in increasing chance of survival. For this reason, here at Slippery Coco we are committed to educating about the signs and symptoms as well as how to properly check for these changes within your breast and surrounding tissues. This is a topic we will never get sick of talking about and you’ll be sure to see a lot of our content popping up in the very near future!

This year we have launched our “Check your Coconuts” and “#letsalarmtogether” campaign which is all about encouraging our followers to set a reminder on the 1 st of every month to regularly check their breasts for changes. By this October we want to see a huge uprise in women making checks a part of their regular routine as well as normalise the need for checks!

It is all too often that we become complacent and think- this will never happen to me. This attitude and mindset MUST change, and we are determined to be the driving force behind that.
